Homeless man injured when tree crashes through his tent, pinning him

A homeless man in Toms River was injured  when a tree crashed through his tent, pinning him underneath.

At approximately 10:40 pm last night, police, fire, and medical units responded to the New Jersey Transit Bus Terminal at 400 Highland Parkway. They were advised that a man was injured by a falling tree in the wooded area adjacent to the property.

Upon arrival, they located a 40-year-old man that was pinned to the ground by a tree that had fallen under the weight of the snow.

The man, who was conscious and alert, was sleeping when the tree crashed through his tent.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
