Thursday: LSTA busing schedule [UPDATED 8:30 AM]

Rabbi Krawiec provided TLS with the following update following the 5:00 AM conference with the Township agencies.Shachris runs are cancelled.

Boys elementary schools are on a 60-minute delay, in for 9:30.

Girls elementary schools are on a 60-minute delay, in for 10:15.

“We advise to have the children wait on the main roads of developments,” Rabbi Krawiec said.

“Please use extra caution and be aware that the vendors are doing the best they can and the drivers have the discretion while navigating the roads this morning.”

He added, “If you decide to drive, please carpool.”

There will be full pm busing today.

Keep in mind, this is the status as of 6:00 AM. We will update if anything changes.

As always, call your school’s snow number.

UPDATE 7:15 AM:

Seman tov bus company will not be able able to service their morning routes, as they can’t get their buses out. They are based outside of Lakewood and took on a lot more snow than Lakewood.

If you are driving, please carpool and exercise caution.

We will advise any changes as they develop.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

UPDATE 8:30 AM:

Vendors are reporting additional delays with driver call-outs, and getting the buses out.

If your bus isn’t showing up, perhaps drive and carpool.

Please note, the vendors and drivers are going above and beyond, and we thank them for their efforts.

We are hopeful by the pm time all will be back to regular schedule.

Please exercise caution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  1. It’s crazy that everyone in this town goes nuts if they have their kids home for a day or two schools are not babysitters I don’t think it’s normal to have school today and no I am not a teacher but there is a ton of snow we can’t even get out the front door and now all of lakewood has to quickly dig themself out of a mountain of snow so that their kids can get to school and theres no place even to wait for the bus it’s not even safe everyone needs to relax and chill out about a day or two of no school when I was growing up in lakewood there never would have been school on a day like today when there’s a ton of snow there were much more snow days off and nobody complained!

  2. The area that they are based out of is 30 min away. They couldn’t have gotten more than an inch more. It’s fine that they’re not running but it’s not because they took on more snow. Maybe they couldn’t get the busses and drIveway cleaned and have the busses drive to lakewood all in a timely manner. That would make more sense and is totally understandable.

    • Actually, some areas closer to the shore and further south (including Brick and Toms River) received 16-18″ – nearly double the amount of snow as compared to Lakewood’s 9-10″.

  3. Doctor, no one cares how much snow is on your car or front lawn, the streets are what matters. Yesterday streets at school dismissal time were not clear, today streets at school arrival time are clear. Is that clear?

  4. Hey, Mr Relax. The working class has to go to work snow or not. Some of us dug out at 5 am. We don’t shut the world down because it snowed. Seriously.

  5. Seems like we are never happy! When there’s no school we hear an earful of complaints when everyone bends over backwards to make school happen the other half of Lakewood complains !!! Be grateful we have trustworthy people who make decisions and stop complaining

  6. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you schools for working everything out so there should be school today…..a lot of them with an on time start! Thank you playgroup Morahs for digging out a path so we can all come to school! Thank you Rabbi Krawiec for working out the bussing. I am pretty sure you didn’t get much sleep in the last two days if at all so thank you for your tireless efforts!
To all those fifty plus complinerrs yesterday …….now would be a good time to say thank you! Yes thanks and appreciation can be extended even when you get something you feel is “owed” or “coming “ to you!
Perhaps if you sometimes said thank you and showed appreciation to your teachers rebbeim principals menahilim playgroup morahs you would come to notice how hard they actually work and aren’t just “glorified babysitters “ so you can go to work. They work for a living as well and most of them if not all of them go way beyond the call of duty.ALL THE TIME!

  7. how did everyone else get to work on time (except for those who are waiting for the busses, of course!), but the busses can’t??? excuses, excuses excuses! Maybe I should become a bus driver.

  8. Thank you LSTA for providing our schools with busing, especially to the bus drivers who braved the weather, roads and traffic.

Thank you for allowing us a little extra time in the morning to get out and for our kids to enjoy the snow.

Thank you for a full day of school which allows us to get to work, even if a little late.

Most of us know you (you = LTSA, Bus Drivers, School admin, Playgroup morahs, etc.) don’t control the weather and we appreciate your hard work. Complainers are, unfortunately, usually a little too vocal…

  9. I just wanted to chime in to thank the many people who haven’t slept in two days- and who did a hero’s job in this storm!! Thanks to the DPW- the streets look amazing! Thanks to the bus drivers and LSTA!!! Please do not think that the complainers are the majority- far far far from it- they’re just the loudest! We all thank you- hope you get some rest today!!!

  10. I hope any driver that didn’t show up and/or refuses to do his shift is fired. This is unacceptable that a snow storm should shut a city down like this. Most of the town is perfectly driveable today.
Also, another issue I have is with the schools that open late, but make it clear there will be no supervision for those arriving earlier. Is it really so hard to have one staff member show up on-time for those parents that need to drop their kids off at the regular time? This is ridiculous.

  11. I know its hard for you to understand that in the real world people actualy watch their children and dont cry when there nanny, oops i mean school is closed.

Your bus was late, Ohh well, maybe if you cared about their saftey and not just having them out of the house youd be happy the driver was being careful.

Your complaining about how there was no school yesterday and school today. Well there were accidents all over town yesterday with “no snow”. So maybe today we can flip a bus with snow.

Thanks LSTA for the busing today.

  12. People don’t care about us bus drivers or the safety of children it took me one hour travel time to come in just to drive my bus we got 18inches of snow by me please don’t tell at your bus drivers because that are doing the best that cam

  13. You’re totally right! Thanks for watching out for the safety of our kids!! You’re doing more than your best- you’re awesome!! 🙂 🙂

  14. Reading these comments, I was horrified!! All you complainers, and you know who you are, you are a disgrace to society. I feel bad for your spouses and kids if you have, your family members, friends etc!! I could imagine how they dont enjoy spending time with you. Lastly you dont deserve to benefit from our amazing community. there is no room for you here.
On a different note, thanks to all those who have worked so hard for us! We notice and appreciate you efforts!!
