Video shows driver on GSP steering with knee, and typing on phone with both hands

A reader-submitted video shows a driver on the Garden State Parkway using her knee to steer, as she types on her phone with both hands.

“My wife recorded a one-minute video of her while she had no idea,” the one who submitted the video wrote. “Very sad, could end in a horrific accident for an innocent driver trying to make it home from work.”

  1. I am so appalled by this. Is there not enough evidence out there? She falls under the same stupidity As drinking and driving-she should be arrested for DUI. Under the influence of temptation to answer someone.

    • Holding the phone is basically just as bad… the radiation also has effect as DUI, ad the distraction – physically and mentally

  2. Just FYI- your wife was also putting people at risk- she was busy videoing another driver instead of focusing on the road!

  3. Really: dumb-the one texting and knee driving and dumber-the one driving and videoing. Clearly from the driver side. There is no doubt. You both would have gotten tickets. So you better hope it does not get seen by a police officer.

  4. The lady driving with her knee is driving like a pro, with phone high enough that she can glance at the road every few seconds

The one taking the video is videoing (non shaky, meaning was looking at screen while filming) out the side window. Not able to look at the road at all. When people try this they almost automatically swerve as by default you turn your wheel slightly
So that’s a lot more dangerous

    However having said that
Both actions should be condoned and it’s incredibly dangerous especially at those speeds

  5. I don’t care if she is in law enforcement. It doesn’t look like she was in a police vehicle. What kind of law enforcement is she if she didn’t act on it? She could have Bluetoothed for an officer and in turn let the video be incriminating. If that doesn’t happen then she is no better.
