BREAKING: RWJ Barnabas Health Suspends Bigoted Doctor just hours after TLS story; Lakewood Vaad Lauds Quick Action

Within hours of TLS publishing the troubling comments of Frank Machiaverna, a Physician Advisor at RWJ Barnabas Health, his employer tells TLS that he has been suspended.

“RWJBarnabas Health has a system-wide commitment to inclusiveness and diversity as an employer and a provider of healthcare services,” Frank J. Vozos, MD, FACS, Chief Executive, Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus and Executive Vice President, RWJBarnabas Health told TLS. “Dr. Machiaverna is employed in an administrative role and is not a practicing surgeon at any RWJBarnabas Health facilities. Recent statements attributed to him are disturbing and he has been immediately suspended, pending an investigation.”

Community leaders were relieved at the quick action.

The Lakewood Vaad issued the following statement:

“We greatly appreciate that RWJBarnabas appreciated the seriousness and urgency of the matter, and reacted appropriately. All communities in our region have a longstanding positive relationship with RWJBarnabas hospitals and affiliated providers. We are thankful that they will continue being a source of hope and healing.”

The Vaad added, “We also hope that this saga highlights the perils of the publication of hateful comments on Facebook, which is home to regular calls of hate and violence against Jews and other minorities. We call on Facebook and our nation’s legislators to work together to stop the hate now.”

  1. I’m waiting for that “level headed, take no sider” to post;

“What about the young child who was scheduled to to see this Dr, he/she has to suffer because of his post?”

    Lol

  2. Good! And he should be more than suspended as he clearly would not be able to abide by medical ethics including non-maleficense. He cannot be trusted by the public.

  3. And the biggest joke? He has his home listed with a Jewish agent, so he kinda needs us horrible Jews! 2328 Donna Dee Court in Toms River!

  4. Hospital administration the last few years has brought the hospital forward so dramatically.
As someone involved in healthcare, I was not the least bit surprised at the swift action taken. They know what they’re doing and want the hospital to excell in customer service and community relations in addition to providing high level care.

  5. Thank you to the management of MMCSC and RWJBH for taking such strong leadership on this issue. Today’s actions display what MMSCS has meant to the community of Lakewood. It is unfortunate that such hatred and bigotry exist today but it is comforting to know that the orthodox community has the strong support of such a wonderful institution.

    • I couldn’t agree with you more! I’ve been working with MMCSC for close to 25 years. They have always provided such great services to our institution, especially under the new management of Dr.s Mohan and Vozos. No one has ever understood the needs of our community more than them. Their support and dedication to the orthodox community is as i strong as it has ever been!

  6. It is unfortunate to see words of bigotry but kudos to the hospital for their quick response. We should commend the hospital and its leadership and wish them the best in making the proper improvements to this hospital. It will very soon be a great asset to the entire community.

  7. I said “He’s History” at 13:46 PM. Took less than 2 hours. The jerk is done. His new bed won’t be in a hospital either. He’s on the wrong side of the law. It’s not over. Anyone have a Jewish lawyer joke? Didn’t think so.

  8. Wife is supposed to give borth at community hospital in in TR in few months, glad this thing is out of there. Would have made me feel very uncomfortable.

  9. Thank you RWJ Barnabas Health!
Someone just needs to keep an eye out for where his next position may take him. Hopefully not a place that cares for humans.
