The Lakewood Memorial Day Parade will be taking place on Monday, May 28.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., members of the Lakewood Township community and organizations will be honoring our veterans, the men and women who have served and are now serving in the military, with a Memorial Day Parade and services at the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, Lakewood.

The parade will begin with the Lakewood High School Marching Band playing at the Review Stand in Town Square, Third Street and Clifton Avenue. The Parade will then proceed down Clifton Avenue, make a right onto Main Street (Route 88), cross Route 9 South, and proceed to the All War Memorial Amphitheater.

Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller is this year’s Master of Ceremony. After the raising of the flag, the LHS Marching Band will lead the Nation Anthem. Next, Lakewood Mayor Raymond G. Coles will deliver the Mayor’s Address, followed by a prayer for troops currently overseas. Shua Kessin will sing G-d Bles America.

Various organizations will place wreaths at the memorial, honoring our veterans. After the 21-Gun Salute, the LHS Marching Band will play Taps. Participants in the Memorial Day ceremony include Senator Robert Singer, Assemblymen Sean Kean and Ned Thomson, and Freeholder Virginia Haines.

Parade participants are the Lakewood Police Department (Lead vehicle), The Lakewood Police Color Guards, the Ocean County Sheriff Department, the LHS Army JROTC, Lakewood American Legion Post #166, Jewish War Veterans, Concord Rehab, Civil Air Patrol, LCSW. SCHI, Birkur, Cholim, Bethel Pentecostal Church, Lakewood Historical Museum, LHS Marching Band, the DPW, the Lakewood Fire Department, the Lakewood EMS, Chaveirim, Hatzolah, and the Lakewood PBA.

Participants should be at their assigned location no later than 9:30 a.m. Bus transportation will be available to transport marchers from the lake back to the starting point of the parade
