  1. Translation: American Water found another way to put capital to use in the ongoing game of earnings growth and shareholder returns. Every time they put capital to use to “replace aging pipes” or “plan for future growth” they get a spectacular return on capital via getting the BPU to approve rate increases justified by the capital investment. Its the only way for a water utility to generate year after year consistent earnings growth. Read their shareholder report. It’s the way the game works with for profit water companies, and American Water is one of the best at playing it….

And Lakewood residents continue to pay the steep price….

  2. Things cost money. Money is important. Earning a living is important. Pay raises are important. Money from government funding is important. Why is it that so many think the expense of growth and safety via violations is not legit???

  3. Question to our elected officials/:

Is there any oversight from the township? Or does NJAW upgrades whenever they choose.

    Who decides?

(Sometimes I wonder if they even know)

  4. I’m so confused- I live on one of those streets, and they put in a new water main several years ago.. So why does it have to be done again??

  5. I don’t use sewer and pay a lot for septic service/ replacement. If this upgrade is for sewage why did they increase all septic households as well??!!!!
