Motorcyclist killed, two from Lakewood injured in accident

A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in an accident today.

The accident occurred around 8:55AM on Brick Boulevard, at the north entrance to Bay Harbor Plaza.

Police say an 18-year-old motorcyclist was traveling north on Brick Boulevard in the area of Hooper Avenue, when another vehicle was stopped in the left turn lane for Bay Harbor Plaza on Brick Boulevard southbound.

As the vehicle proceeded to make the left turn, the motorcycle impacted the passenger side, am chasing it to turn onto its side. The Driver and Passenger of Vehicle 2 were trapped inside the vehicle.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services along with MONOC Paramedics responded to the scene. Brick Township Fire Companies 21, 22 and 23 along with Silverton Fire Company 29 responded to the scene to extricate the Driver and Passenger from the vehicle.

The driver and passenger, from Lakewood, were treated at the scene and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. The motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit responded to assist in the investigation. The Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office along the Sheriff Department’s, Criminal Investigation Unit responded to process the scene.

Vehicular traffic on Brick Boulevard northbound was detoured at Hooper Avenue around the scene for approximately two hours during the investigation.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Lampiasi and Ptl. Donnelly of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit. Preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have contributed to the cause of the crash.

    • Imagine this was a family member of yours OK? A driver on the road possibly didn’t blinker or simply just didn’t look (something I deal with daily s I drive in Lakewood). They turn, they hit this family member of yours, killing them instantly. You may be right, manslaughter is probably to light of a charge anyway.

  1. The man on the motorcycle was speeding, news reports said he was already in 4th gear on that bike, it’s a very short distance from the light to where he collided with the car. A shame for all involved the man killed was only 18, I can’t imagine how devasted his parents are. Prayers for all involved

  2. Article makes no sense unless cyclist (RIP) was southbound and T-boned car passenger side while car was making a left northbound.
