PHOTO: The gun and ammunition the 4th grade Lakewood student brought to school

TLS has obtained a photo of the gun, bullets and magazine the 4th grader brought to school earlier this month.

The photo shows the real gun, live ammunition and magazine after school security apprehended the boy an immediately took apart the gun.

The story, first reported by TLS – and subsequently viral around the Nation, prompted the BOE Counsel, Superintendent and school officials in conjunction with the LPD to immediately implement security measures, by adding metal detectors in all public elementary schools throughout the district.

In addition, the district has required clear backpacks for students.

When contacted, Lakewood Board of Education Attorney Inzelbuch refused to discuss anything related to the weapon, due to the ongoing investigation.

  1. Type of “Saturday Night Special”. .22 Caliber automatic. Favored by organized crime for one or two shots point blank behind the ear for a guaranteed hit. Cheap, easily available. Also favorite conceal for club goers, close range deadly. Not a toy. Likely a reason for this type of weapon by somebody before or after purchase. This story may not end here.

    • I didn’t know organized crime uses .22 calibers, I would of thought, it would be to gentle for them, and they would go for a minimum of 9 caliber is it because they are quieter and have less bang so not to catch everyone’s attention?

  2. who is responsible for a fourth grader obtaining the gun? how come that is not mentioned by the BOE. that’s who should be paying for all the new see-through back packs that students must now purchase
