A Lakewood Board of Education employee working for the Transportation Department has been accused of fraud, an official told TLS.
According to the official, the employee – whose name was not released – allegedly created for herself a contract that had the Board of Education pay her approximately $18,000 annually for a child unable to utilize busing due to being classified as disabled or the likes.
However, an investigation found the contract was an apparent fraud.
“Her child was clearly identified as being eligible (for busing),” the official said.
It’s unknown how long the alleged fraud was going on for, but the official says it was caught as the Department was renewing contracts for the upcoming school year.
Authorities were notified about the incident.
“We are looking into a fraud allegation but I don’t have anything I can release at this time,” Detective Captain Greg Staffordsmith told TLS.
As a result, all similar parents contracts are on hold and expected to be looked into, the official told TLS. Busing contracts are reportedly also now being looked into.
Developing.
Guess who ?
Who is it
Well they are paying patents to drive their own children to school, more then they pay many aides. Aides who are on busses with many children all with different disabilities. This person your mention ing is still under the threshold of what star allows. All the high paid parent drives should
Be looked at very closely.
Do you really think all contracts for parents are on hold because of one investigation? It may have brought attention to the issue which is a good thing. Some patents are being paid more then aides. Imagine being paid to drive your own child to school? I can’t imagine taking anything for my own child.
Now if its found there is special needs to be met then meet them. But don’t take advantage.
