Question:
Dear Mayor,
Thanks for making yourself available to the public. Every Tuesday as I observe the tremendous traffic jams the garbage trucks cause I wonder why they can’t do the pickups in the early am so as not to interfere with the busses. Wouldn’t it make more sense especially considering that the regular morning traffic in this town is already a nightmare?

Good morning,
Public works tried very hard to minimize this type of problem. It is not always possible to avoid these situations but they try to schedule the trucks away from certain areas when there is heavy volume of traffic.

Keep in mind that some of the Mesivta routes start around 6:30… Do you want to have garbage trucks in front of your home 5:30 AM?? It’s just part of life.
I have this issue on rt 88. They do garbage collection between 6-7:30pm backing up rt 88.
How bout all on the weekend like BP. You can do all the pick ups in half the time when there is no traffic.
How about weekend pickups. It would take half the time to do it when there is no traffic. Do the whole town in one day.
The best time in the congested areas is between 10:30 and 12:30
Hey Jim move back to BP. Are you going to pay for OT for the workers? Cause a lot of times i see a lot of comments here complaining about your so called taxes but you want DPW to work on weekends. The same way you have your time to be with your family,don’t you think that they want to spend time with their family too?
If it takes a fraction of the time it would be worth paying for the weekend work! Do the math…. (and include the cost of increased traffic during the week)
