This year, the Sukkah Exchange program has been up and running since late August, and has been flooded with requests from all over the tri-state area.
The “Sukkah Exchange,” a project of Chesed of Lakewood, pairs sukkahs donated by families who no longer need them with families who do. Purchasing a sukkah is a significant investment in money, time and energy, especially when faced with many other Yom Tov expenses.
“Coordinators have received an overwhelming amount of calls for sukkah requests,” a coordinator says. “Due to the incredible number of Sukkahs donated this year, Chesed of Lakewood has been able to field requests and make the sukkah distributions possible. Many sukkahs have already been distributed, making the Yom Tov preparations possible for the families of the community.”
“However, with Yom Tom only a few days away, we are in urgent need of 150 sukkahs to accommodate the list of families who are still in need of sukkahs. Therefore, Chesed of Lakewood is reaching out to the greater frum community, asking anyone with an unused sukkah to simply contact Chesed of Lakewood for an easy pick up and a tremendous mitzvah! To partner with this incredible organization by donating sukkahs please contact the Chesed of Lakewood hotline at 732-901-0482 ext. 4 or email [email protected] for the “Sukkah Exchange.”
