  1. @Harry – Why the negative outlook? And don’t bring up statistics, bec if u want to go with percentages we as Jews wouldn’t even exist. So keep the negativity away and u live a happier life.

  2. If it was Hishtadlus then way more people would/should play when the lotto is only at 5 million being that Would significantly alter their life/parnassa. I think the fact that people only start playing once it’s in 150 million and above shows that it’s all about the craze

  3. The original question raised was, is this a craze, or Hishtadlus?
    Although I never, personally, heard him say this, but Rav Yaakov Kamentetzky zt”l was reportedly asked if it is a Chasaron in Emunah (Lack of Faith) to buy a lottery ticket?
    His answer: “OIB MIR KOIFT AIN, ES IS FINE” (If you buy one, it is fine) , OIB MIR KOIFT TZVAI, ES IS AH CHASORON IN BITACHON” (If you buy two, it is a lack of faith/trust).
