PHOTOS: NJ State Police Hosts First Citizens Academy Meeting

Yesterday, Colonel Patrick Callahan and various command staff members hosted community leaders from across the state during the first meeting of the New Jersey State Police Citizens Academy at Division Headquarters in West Trenton.

Those in attendance had a very informative session discussing various issues concerning law enforcement and the communities. Citizens also got a tour of NJSP Museum and Learning Center and had an opportunity to learn about the history of the State Police.

The goal of the Citizens Academy is to inform a group of citizens, who represent a cross section of New Jersey, about the responsibilities, capabilities, operations, and procedures of the New Jersey State Police.

Participants will meet weekly at various State Police facilities for eight sessions, which will focus on topics such as how we use the latest technologies, training practices, and investigative tools and techniques.
