FIRST REPORT: Heroic actions of Lakewood bus driver, children avert disaster

The quick thinking of Lakewood bus driver and children prevented a potential disaster.

Just minutes after picking up children at a cheder in Lakewood, the bus driver began suffering a medical episode and had trouble breathing, sources told TLS.

The bus driver, 32, immediately pulled over the bus full of children to the side of the road, dialed 911 and handed the phone to the students.

Two children, approximately 10 years old, took control and communicated with police dispatchers, explaining what was happening, and where they were located.

Police and Lakewood First Aid members arrived at the scene and found the bus driver in distress, but conscious.

“He suffered a significant medical episode,” an official told TLS.

The bus driver was transported to Ocean Medical Center. His condition was not available.

  1. @fakenews – my fourth grade son was on the bus, the story was reported here exactly as he told it to us when he came home yesterday. Best wishes to the bus driver and thank you to all who helped!
