Reminder: No LSTA or Jackson BOE busing Thursday

In observance of Thanksgiving, there will not be any busing on Thursday from the LSTA.

In addition, there will not be any Jackson Board of Education busing.

The same will be the arrangement for the X-mas.

Private school parents are encouraged arrange carpools ahead of time to help alleviate traffic.

  1. Gitty- LSTA is not providing “BOE busing” but because carpools are such a nightmare for big schools, they often pay Jay’s privately to do busing to help the parents. So YOC is having busing paid privately, at diff time than usual. Bais Tova is also doing private busing home at 2;30.

    • The proper term would be “BOE Funded Busing.” The LSTA is a fully independent entity and determines its own busing service schedules. As one commenter noted holiday busing was provided when operated by the BOE.

  2. When I was growing up in Lakewood we had buses on the holidays. This is a relatively new development. Just a way for the drivers to make more money, because they drive anyway privately. Good luck to all parents and teachers. Especially parents that are teachers.

  3. Non Jewish drivers would like to enjoy our holidays. We get so few of them compared to yours. Ours are 1-2 days long at a time. So what’s the problem. When y’all have a holiday it’s normally 1-2 weeks long. We make $0 them holidays most of the time. So who really gets the shaft? We drive year round. Others have the summer off, not us. We sit in buses that reach up to 112 degrees for 2-5 hrs at a stretch. With a small fan that you can’t even feel. So y’all can deal with a few holidays that have 2 days max.
