The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 AM in the Liberty Drive area.

The suspect reportedly knocked out a window to the vehicle and assaulted the driver before fleeing with her vehicle.

A large search for the suspect and vehicle is underway.

Lakewood’s Detective’s Bureau and CSI are investigating the incident.

”Responding officers learned that the victim, a 20-year-old Lakewood woman, was sitting in her silver 2018 Hyundai Sonata, in the the area of Rt 9 and Liberty Drive, when an unidentified man approached her and asked for directions,” police said.

“She reported that the man began to beat on her window with his hands until it ultimately broke. He then entered the vehicle and forcefully pushed her to the passenger side of the car.”

The suspect then started to drive off, and the female exited the moving vehicle. “As a result, she sustained some minor injuries requiring further evaluation at the hospital,” police said.

  1. It’s so sad to see this happening especially when it’s in our backyard. Let’s pray the victim comes out of this ok (it’s a permanent scar on the victim, I pray she gets through this)

I hope the animal is apprehended quickly and locked away so he can’t do anything like this to anybody else. And to “more pls”, this can’t happen anywhere in the world not just in Lakewood.

    Let this galus end

  2. Uhh can anyone tell me why the girl didnt drive away when she saw someone trying to break in? I doubt it took only one blow for him to be in. Didnt she have to drive off?
    Somethings off

  3. Dear S,

Yes, somethings off, you are off. She was parked in front of her house, panicked, as anyone normal would, and banged on her horn so someone would be alerted. It happened very fast

  4. This was a miracle she did exactly the right thing .
    1.she screamed.
    2. The guy was sitting on top of her.she undid her seat belt. Jumped to passenger seat.
    3. Jumped out of a moving vehicle .
    4. Ran into family friend house ….

Baruch HaShem a miracle .. Hashem should watch over klal yisroel .

  5. It’s unfair for anyone to make any “she should have” comments. If SHE was standing in front of you would you still say that? Traumatic experiences need TLC not “next time…” let the police and the victim along with witnesses and family decide what category the incident falls under and what actions to take.
