Jackson Police Department investigating social media posting

On Sunday, the Jackson Police Department was notified of a social media post being circulated which reportedly was referencing an incident to take place at a school this week.

“An investigation was initiated, and at this time it appears that the post was a copycat of social media incidents which took place in other states over the past year and no connection to any Jackson schools or Jackson Township could be confirmed,” police said. “With the information available at this time in the investigation, it appears that the post is not credible.”

“The safety of our township’s residents and students is a primary concern and any threats, even when determined as not credible, are taken seriously. With that in mind, patrol officers will be directed to conduct additional patrols at the township schools this week and anyone with any specific information on this incident is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111 instead of circulating unsubstantiated rumors through social media.”

  1. Ron, these punks are anything but anonymous, and I’m sure I speak for most people, when I say that I hope they’re soon caught!

On an unrelated note, that actor in Chicago, Jussie Smollett, apparently fabricated the hate crime he was claiming to be a victim of.

What do both stories have in common? They are wasting taxpayer resources, and taking the attention of law enforcement away from other crimes they could be investigating instead.

In both cases, the perpetrators should face the full weight of the justice system, and ultimately be forced to pay for the costs of the investigations themselves.
