Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: County & State issues

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

When it comes to the County or State, why does it have to take years? As you wrote in your Raintree reply, “We have been working with the county for a couple of years….”. The same is with the intersection of New Hampshire and Cedarbridge. Hundreds and probably thousands of man hours are wasted by cars waiting to make a turn from New Hampshire Ave onto Cedarbridge Ave – that has a traffic light that is green for 4-5 cars!

Response from Mayor Coles:

Hi Meir,

We constantly push our agenda with both the county and state. In the case of the county they Commissioned a county wide traffic study so they could come up with long and short range plans. They also have to spread the roadwork among the whole county, despite how urgently some is needed in our town. Meir Lichtenstein and I are meeting about roadwork with the county early next month. I’m also frustrated by the slow pace.

I try to always be positive with my interactions with everyone, including other governmental agencies. I also urge folks to contact the freeholders and the Governor’s office as well, let them know how much these improvements mean to town.

Thanks

Ray
