A multi-faith press conference calling on the Jackson Township to pass a proposed ordinance condemning an anti-Semitic documentary is planned for this week.
On the heels of the Lakewood Township condemning the hate group, a press conference is planned for Wednesday ahead of Jackson’s Township meeting to condemn Rise Up Ocean County’s production and distribution of their anti-Semitic documentary and related trailers.
This ordinance is the identical ordinance already passed by Lakewood, and is being requested of Toms River and the County Board of Chosen Freeholders as well.
When is Toms River passing the same proposed ordinance? This should be more important than a No Knock Ordinance.

The only thing that will help, besides Davening of course, is getting our own people elected into public office.

Agreed ..when the election campaign of a towns mayor is filled with such sick bigotry is is clearly sending a message that the mayor and staff do not tolerate Jews and give support to such hate groups
Historically, whenever we Yidden retreat, they see us as helpless, and we become victims. When we stand our ground and fight, nothing can stop us for we have HaShem’s protection and the laws of the United States.
What we should do, against this Rise Up group of Antisemites, is Rise Up to their challenge. We should let our presence and our power be felt as a community. We should visit the tourist areas in the summer, but not patronize the businesses. Walk the boards of Spring Lake, Sea Girt, and Point Pleasant and Seaside. We should go to the open houses, and other free public venues, and let them see our unity of purpose. The haters will be helpless, and gnash their teeth in helpless rage against the power of our unity, and they will be ready to deal.
We must continue to expand. To do otherwise would be self-defeating. Remember, there is nothing we could do that would make them like us so the best choice they have, is to sell and move away.
The national campaign against bullying tells us that we can contribute to that national effort by stopping the bullying against us.We can stand up to these bullies by identifying and exposing these haters by name. Let them be taken to court on the slightest provocation, and made to pay actual fines whenever possible or appropriate. They have already cost us untold amounts in terms of peace of mind, and the law is on our side. We should use it whenever we have a clear cut path to victory.
@yechiel Goldstein, Your approach does not sound productive at all. Instead of letting “our power and presence be known” in an attempt to intimidate our neighbors, how about working on building a relationship with them? We should not stand for bigotry, but neither should we work to inflame and incite tensions. On the other side of the fence are lots of people with valid concerns, or people who’ve been fed misinformation. Kindness and outreach can help to change minds and create mutual understanding. Your approach can only serve to deepen the divide.
