Opinion: Failing Failure Poised To Fail Again | Reuven Pasternak

On Tuesday morning, socialist Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders announced a run for the presidency in 2020. The wily and tenacious septuagenarian was the runner-up to eventual Democratic presidential nominee and presidential election loser Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Sanders is an avowed socialist, a champion of universal healthcare, eye-popping tax hikes on wealthy people, and basically every other loony, fringe liberal policy. He believes that since the election of Donald Trump, the Democratic party, once known for it’s moderate stances on policy issues, has been careening leftward, making his policy stances mainstream. He is right. The Democratic party has completely and utterly lost it’s mind ever since Trump took the oath of office, and somehow believe that making borderline kooks their national spokespeople is a valid and necessary response.

Considering the extreme leftward shift in liberal ideologies palatable to the national Democratic base, you would think that Sanders would be a front-runner – perhaps THE front-runner – for the Democratic nomination for president in the upcoming presidential race. But he isn’t and he won’t be.

You see, it is not just Bernie Sanders who has seen an increase in time in the limelight. Every liberal crackpot, every person with an ideology that would have been scoffed at less than two decades ago is now listened to by attentive ears. All these nuts coming out of the Democratic woodwork, individuals who, in a normal political climate would find themselves yelling their ideas at trees and the sky, now receive Sunday morning show interviews and “intellectuals” nodding their head in feigned understanding of their blabbering.

And so it will be throughout the entire Democratic primary race. We will see a packed field, filled with all stripes and colors and ideological persuasions, and odds are that the wackiest will win out. Unfortunately for Mr. Sanders, his wackiness is probably not quite fresh enough for voters to choose him over someone more “hip”, someone more in-tune with the Trump Derangement Syndrome crowd. Unless enough moderates are able to push aside the far-left members of the 2020 field, the eventual nominee will be a firebrand who is able to say more controversial things that Donald Trump, which I admit will be a feat unto itself.

But either way, as far as Bernie Sanders is concerned, his time has come and passed. The power of his crazy ideas has worn off. Move aside Mr. Failure, there are other failures waiting to fill your spot.

  1. This is a very biased piece. I happen to agree with it but you cant write a professional piece and call everything Democratic crazy, nutty, looney etc etc.
I also agree Bernie is done.

  2. The Democratic party wants a nominee that will make all the Trump supporters gnash their teeth while yelling and screaming for the next 4 years.
    We will ignore them completely.

They had 4 years where they let:
    1) Trump run his business while still in office
    2) Never show his taxes
    3) Make deals with Russia while being the Republican nominee
    4) Hire the most criminal and repugnant associates for his campaign
    5) Allow nepotism to hire his family for positions they have zero background in and which they will potentially profit from.
    6) Allow the President to talk secretly with Putin for who he is under
    investigation for.
    7) Fire people who are investigating him.
    8) Publicly announce that he will pardon people who protect him
    9) Give (himself and) Millionaire’s and Billion Dollar companies tax breaks , while the middle class continue to remain stagnant
    10) Promise to build a wall that Mexico will pay for and not keep his campaign promise
    11) Run a campaign built on racism against Muslims, Mexicans and others.
    12) Declare a national emergency when there is none.

We will show them every tweet from Trump and every defense that the White House and Fox news used to defend him and we will use it against them.

The next Democratic President will have free reign from the Democratic party to do whatever he wants and he will be supported.

If you are Republican, pray hard that Trump should win.

  3. It seems to me with the high levels of dependency Frumma would be supporting a candidate who supports medicare for all and the expansion of social safety nets to Americans. What am I missing?

  4. Ami Zola are you Democratic supporters. Democratic is getting much worst than Trump is. I am not going vote for crazy Democratic these day. They have gone too far liberal and became much worst. Denining Trump Russian deal. Think what Democratic had lied about Supreme Court. Democratic are now in lower positions ever. Have you seen what New York City had become?? Very crazy Democratic situation.
