FULL VIDEO & PHOTOS: Press conference denouncing local hate group held in Jackson; Township Council fails to place resolution on agenda, but some agree group should be condemned

Numerous officials this evening gathered inside the Jackson Municipal building ahead of the Counil meeting to denounce local anti-Semitic hate group Rise Up Ocean County.

Senator Singer, Freeholder Little, Sheriff Mastronardy and Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg were among the speakers at the press conference, called by the Weisenthal Center.

Following the press conference, the Township Council held its scheduled meeting, but failed to put a resolution condemning the group on its agenda.

Multiple local residents got up to urge the Council to reconsider, and follow Lakewood’s recent resolution condemning the group.

Over an hour later,  Jackson Resident Mordy Burnstein asked Council President Nixon if he agreed the group should be condemned, to which he answered in the affirmative.

No word was given by the Council as to the reconsideration of the resolution.

During the press conference, Ocean County Freeholder was asked if the Freeholder would pass a similar resolution, to which he said the County is currently reviewing it – but he strongly condemned the group.

  1. Yes. we are going to convince all those laughing up their sleeve about the upcoming documentary that they should sincerely condemn it as anti-semitic. Grow up. The more you beg for a condemnation, the more egg you will have on your face.

  2. Does it really make a difference if it’s on the agenda or not ? If everyone is condemning them, in public, does the TWSP need to put it on the agenda and then condemn them again ? I’m not sure where it chaps a Nafkeh Minah.
And these haters are getting so much free publicity.
