HEROIC: Frum Toms River resident helps prevent man from jumping off the Verrazano Bridge

A Toms River man today is credited with helping saving a man who nearly jumped off the Verrazano Bridge.

YWN reports, “Tuli Abraham, (of Toms River), was driving on the Verrazano Bridge on Sunday afternoon, when he noticed a car in front of him suddenly stop. A man exited his vehicle, and walked to the ledge of the bridge. Not wasting a second, Tuli stopped his car and ran to the man, asking him what he was doing.”

(Watch the video on YWN.)

“I am going to jump,” the man replied, as he began climbing over the ledge.

Tuli grabbed him to prevent him from jumping. Around a minute later, he was joined by a NY State Trooper.

The NYPD eventually assisted them as well as other Good Samaritans.

The emotionally-disturbed man was taken into custody and transported to a medical facility.

  1. Tuli – is takeh a hero. And what a beautiful Kiddush H-shem. @exbrisker – did u think for a second what happened here ? Do you understand the finality of suicide ? Plz, ur a smart guy, and you do have a pulse, think b4 u post ur wisdom.
    Thx

  2. #1, when somebody is that desperate, to the point of doing the unthinkable, it isn’t a joke. 45,000 Americans committed suicide in 2016, that’s about 125 people every day! Btw, the Golden Gate Bridge in California, has a special unit on standby to prevent such tragedies from taking place.

  3. The new toll almost $20 … just please tell me the Democrats care about the middle or lower income people who go broke because of them.. they politicians who control the bridges are all democrats…

  4. On behalf of all tax paying New York City residents, I thank you for adding this fine citizen’s medical bills and impound fees, together with all his future medical and psychological bills, court, judicial and public defender’s fees and the cost of housing and feeding/caring for him in either prison or a medical facility – wherever he ends up – to our tax burden. We appreciate it.

  5. Mostly suicide is thought about butvthe act is spur moment for most part( just that last thing is a trigger)I don’t believe it’s mental illness. There are so many things we ALL GO THREW some had enough, some can’t think right at the moment .DO THEY NEED HELP- YES!!! But, to say all suisidecpeople are mentally ill is not correct! I feel for these poor families and ffft

  6. To everyday joe: what a horrible thing to say!
is that all you think about after somebody’s life was saved?
Next time he should let the guy kill himself so you should save some money on your taxes????

  7. Yes. That man has become a huge burden on society. All Jewish halacha and hashkafa aside, don’t make the “All human life is sacred…” argument. When someone commits some terrible crime, his family, his friends and all of society, have to pay the price for his actions along with him – granted, each in their own way. Similarly, when a terminally ill patient signs a DNR (halachically permissable – by the way), his family and friends along with all of society have to contend with all consequences that come from his decision – again, each in their own way. So why pray tell, when someone feels the need to end his particular evolutionary chain, does society suddenly feel obligated to “save” him and lock him up (to protect him from himself – you understand) so as to prevent anyone from G-d forbid having to deal with the finality of his decision?

    • @everyday joe:
”All Jewish halachah and haskafah aside”!! ASIDE!!! A DNR is 100% assur!! ”Evolutionary chain” ”burden on society” Rishus! @TLS don’t post!!

  8. Toms River Strong !!! Strong enough to hold a man from jumping to his certain death. Thanks for helping to save a human life !!!!
