  1. I am surprised that the other candidates didn’t find time to show up. This year elections fall out the day after Pesach and the senior vote is crucial to winning. By not showing up they have basically given up any hope of getting on. Oh well, and then there were 7.

  2. I was very impressed with the turnout and the welcome we all received from the seniors. The main issue as the seniors see it, is taxes and education for the children which everyone in town should be asking.
Very impressed with the folks at the Enclave and thanks for having us.

  3. The Lkwd Tea Party was very impressed with Ira he knows how to articulate a clear message of cutting waste without hurting our children.

  4. Hoping for a clean campaign.
Also: I’m not sure where to post this (sorry!) But is there no S.S.S.S. this week?! Shabbat Shalom/Gutt Shabbos

  5. The question is, how much are the taxpayers paying for all of the schools located within Lakewood?
Lakewood is the only town located in Ocean County to have more schools than any other town. Judging by the grammar and spelling mistakes made on this site by bloggers it’s a waste of money. There are so many that post on this site that have graduated from High School and possibly even College that still don’t know how to spell or speak the primary language of the United States and it’s disgraceful and upsetting to see that my hard earned tax dollars are being wasted. We need board members that are going to do something to fix this school system.

  6. Very impressed with Ira Rosenthal. He was very clear and had some great ideas on how t save money and give a quality education. The bottom line is why is it that our yeshivas and charter schools like the one in newark are educating kids at a third of the price. I can almost guarantee that these kids have higher test scores and a better education. The answer is simple to me and it is because we are paying top dollar to teachers and administrator who believe they are safe to do as they wan and are cushioned by the fact that it is hard to get fired or they get tenuredt. There are of course many great teachers but there are also many who need to go and many new ones that will work for less, and be better and more accountabale. The biggest reason why private schools cost less is because the salaries are much less. I am not saying that this is what they deserve or not but i am saying that this something we need to consider when hiring new employees. There are many qualified teachers that are willing to work at the rate that private school teachers such as the ones that teach my kids make.

  7. Ira needs to look at all of the schools! The data shows that Spruce Street School is one of the lowest performing schools! Making up lies will not get you elected, stating facts will.

  8. Private Schools isn’t the answer. If you look around and look at the past the private school system wasn’t paying the teachers so they decided to leave and place our children in a position of no schooling. How many public school systems have you seen leave children without any schooling or a teacher. Public school systems have more teacher availability than private. Public is looked at more by the public than private is and the public should have a voice on our childrens education.

  9. Our teachers and mechanchim and mechanchos and administrators worl for very low wages and undertake twice as many jobs because they believe it is a mitzva to educate our children .

  10. GO IRA GO!!!! I KNOW IRA FOR A WHILE HE IS A REAL MENCH,FRIENDLY,CARING, OUT GOING SPECIAL PERSON!!! IF ANY BODY CAN DO THE JOD ITS IRA!!!!! HE IS A REAL PLEASURE TO TALK TO!!!!! I ALSO KNOW HIS WONDERFUL WIFE SHINDY & 4 BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN EVERYBODY TOGETHER, VOTE FOR IRA!!!! VOTE FOR IRA!!!

  11. Folks- Ira is very convincing, he did a great job last night. 3 candidates will be elected. Keep in mind the only ones who mentioned bussing was the frum candidates. Bussing is over 20 million dollars of our overall budget and this was not brought up by the seniors.

  12. I highly edited my comments, I’m trying to be a kinder gentler commenter…

I like Bill Hobday, he has the right attitude, he’s talking about education, not just money.
Tracy Tiff actually has children in the public school system.
The rest….. unimpressed. Its just about money to them. Although Mr. Blaustien seems sincere.

Don’t get me started on the guy who wants the kids to walk to school.

  13. # 8 has it right spelling doesn’t seem to be important otherwise the educational system in this country would be working.

Besides most people that think that english is the primary language in this country can’t speak it properly.

i happen to think that spanish is the primary language in this country and if it isn’t it will be in ten years time.

so learn it. (for anonymous # 7)

in my opinion lots of money has been spend on education in our schools and it’s not a waste of time.

There are more teens that are illiterate in their communication abilities and general knowledge than ever before.

they know how to text and talk on their cell phones and that is all they want to know.

so save your money and don’t waste it on trying to educate a society that wants nothing to do with education.

  14. how many of those running have children in the public school system, besides mr. tift? My case in point. We shouldn’t be making decisions for public school children and dictating when we don’t have children there. I am a tax payer too, I pay lots of taxes, but at the end of the day we choose and can’t send our children to the public school system. So we shouldn’t butt in.

  15. sory #21 but the boe is not only for the public schools. private school parents also are entiyled to representation to make sure that we are serviced as we deserve and that we are not being overcharged in taxes.

  16. Dovy, we are all over taxed in Lakewood. No one deserves more or less then anyone else, therefore I would suggest no taxes be spent on garbage pick-up, children who live with in a mile from school should be walking to school, and teachers should be given a raise when lakewood has passing schools.
