Message From Board Of Education Candidate Joel Schwartz

[The following is a message from BOE candidate Joel Schwartz. All candidates are welcome to submit their messages to TLS]. Dear Lakewood Residents, Over the past few days, I had many people approach me asking, why are you getting involved in the BOE, it’s dirty politics.

My answer to them is, you’re right, when you’re politically motivated and there’s financial gain it’s a dirty game and the people involved will anything beyond human imagination to assure that their agenda gets pushed through. I am seeing it first hand.

On the flip side, when your intentions are pure and your willing to sacrifice your energy and time for the good of the Tzibbur (community), then good things happen. This was my approach from the onset of my campaign and will continue to be so.

Should I get elected, I intend to stay focused on what is expected from me as a BOE member and as a representative of the people of Lakewood.

I therefore ask of all registered voters in Lakewood to please take a few minutes of you time to familiarize yourself with the issues and what’s at stake for both the children and the taxpayers and to cast your vote intelligently and for the right reasons.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those for supporting my campaign and those who have taken the time to sit down with me and discuss, how to improve the situation here in Lakewood for both the public and private schools without having to further burden our already overburdened taxpayers. I would also like to thank all the Mosdos for their support.

Finally and most important are you the voter. This is the one time of the year your voices can be heard and listened to.

I thank you in advance for going out and vote for the most critical election in years.

After spending countless hours with other board members and candidates who share my ideas, I ask you to please help me help you. Vote for. Mund, Schwartz, and Silver for Lakewood BOE.

Sincerely;

Joel (Yoel) Schwartz

  1. What e xactly are the issues and how are the two groups of candidates different from each other? Both are claiming to want the best for the children of Lakewood. And both want to keep the taxes down. Will someone please clarify.

  2. You asked what the differences between the candidates are? For the 20 years I have lived in this town the candidates always preached fiscal responsibility but never delivered. The property tax rate went up up up . In the last 2 years when the lac (candidates 1 2 and 3) came on the scene the property taxes went down slightly. You are right that they both SAY the same thing but you have to look at the actions not the words
IN addition rabbi Hertz shlita has written extensively about the need to open up special ed services to competition to get the best possible services for the children with the amount of funding given. The lac ( candidates 1,2 and 3) are for competition for the benefit of our children. It appears that the other slate would like to keep the status quo and as monopoly.

  3. This election is a clear choice. Mr. Silver, Mr. Schwartz, and Mr. Mund will work diligently for all of the students in Lakewood Township. They will manage the budget, improve graduation rates, instill pride of achievement, work well with the other BOE members and the Administration.

It is time to take a stand. These gentlemen are good and decent people that wish to volunteer their time, energy, and skills to make the Lakewood School District better.

Students, parents, taxpayers, support groups, the administration, and all other stakeholders are counting on you to help. Please vote for Jonathon Silver, Joel Schwartz, and Lee Mund. You will be proud of your vote, in knowing that they will be a positive force for good and decency.

  4. I would like to make a prediction.
    Candidates 1,2 &3 will win.
The typical guy who just does what the establishment wants, will stay home because he his confused.
The typical person who pays propety taxes will vote for 1,2 &3.
The seniors who do pay propety taxes will also vote for 1,2 & 3.
Those parents of the public school children will stay home or may split their vote. Remember the graduation rate of the current system is below 40%. There is no vision in the establishment backed candidates how to turn the public schools around.

  5. We are so proud of Mr.Yoni silver he’s an outstanding role model for our town. I’ve known him for almost 25 years. Yoni is an honest & caring individual. He isn’t a self centered person. He does what’s best for the overall community. He has and will always deliver what all the taxpayers want. Vote Silver 1,2,3. Good job yoni
