If you are unsure about the person ringing your doorbell, obviously, do not open the door. TLS has received reports of a man claiming to be a utility service person who is reportedly making his way around town, but is apparently a fraud.
According to one report, this man – or another like him – reportedly stole a cell phone from a resident.
If the person is not wearing ID from the company he represents and/or a vest, chances are he is not legit, and should immediately be reported to police. TLS-CCP/TLS-MK.
where did this happen?
in Lakewood
It doesn’t matter where this happened. It COULD happen to YOU.
Of course we should always be alert for such things.
But if it’s someone going around in Lakewood and particularly in a certain neighborhood, it’s helpful as we will be more on our alert knowing that.
Thank you.
That’s the point. If you hear that this is happening in a different neighborhood, you will let your guard down.
It’s probably happening right now somewhere in NJ, and that person will probably go to another town in NJ tomorrow.
That town may be Lakewood.
Which part of Lakewood will this person choose?
Maybe your part of Lakewood.
Always be on guard.
he just came to my house. beware u can really be fooled!
it’s so easy to forget that there are a lot of sleazy people out there ready to prey on innocent victims.
Pls be careful he has a printed card around his neck that looks like a business card but it is not legit.
why didnt the police nab him yet?
Before you open the door. Ask for his name. Ask what company he’s with. Ask for his ID number. Call the company to verify the person with that name works for the company and ask for his ID number. If he’s not supposed to be there call LPD immediately. Then look out your window and try to get a description, vehicle, plate, etc., if you can. Do not open your door until Police arrive, even if it looks like he’s gone, Uniforms are easy to fake with iron on logo copies, sometimes they can be bought on Craig’s list or Ebay.
These clowns came into the coffee house the other day. Always demand to see ID. If they dont have it on hand, throw them out!
