  1. soooo, Brick, Manchester and Toms River get newly appointed cops. meanwhile Lakewood crimes increase each day & we get nothing. Ohhhh right! people have to PAY higher taxes in order to hire more police but Lakewooders don’t want to do that, so we’re stuck with basically a skeleton crew for one of the most populated areas in Ocean County. Uhhh, people, you can’t have your cake & eat it too. When will the concept penetrate?

You need more than LCSW to help you out. What a moronic statement you made, really sad. Hope when something bad happens to you or a loved one, you see things differently.

  3. We need LPD because they can use weapons if need be to stop a suspect from fleeing a scene, use K9 units and assist the LCSW. That’s their job. “to serve and protect”

  4. It all comes down to money! Everybody wants something for nothing or money by any means ( unsavory renters). why can’t people just accept the fact that if you want improvements you need to sometimes pay a little more & make some sacrifices. Better to not pay cops & just rely on volunteers? Ridiculous! Even though they may be a great asset, there is simply way too much crime for LCSW to deal with… and that’s with what few police we have to patrol this town. It,s no coincidence that the crime rate has gotten out of control given the circumstances. Keep on dreaming that LCSW can solve the problems alone & you’ll see EVEN MORE crimes. It’s wonderful to have them, but GET REAL!! Lakewood needs more police – just look at how many people are crammed in here! It’s just not reasonable! People are in denial as to the severity of the problems.

  5. Lakewood has hired 5 officers within the last year who were already certified and did not need to go to the academy, 1 additional went through the academy.

  6. #9 so that makes 6 total and how many officers have retired? I am sure there were more officers who retired then how many we have hired. Not to mention we already have been saving money due to them retiring. If you search TLS you will see over 10 who have left that were posted on here. Brick PD just hired that in 2011 alone. Its time to hire more officers people.
