PHOTOS & VIDEO: With dad a commercial pilot and son in flight-school, what more appropriate place to celebrate the boy’s Bar Mitzvah than in an airport.
Family and friends gathered at the Monmouth Executive Airport Sunday evening to celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of Jakee D. (Yoel Yaakov) of Long Branch, NJ, who is an aspiring pilot and currently taking flying lessons.
The Bar Mitzvah guests were treated with a 5-10 minute flight in either a 4-seater Cessna or Piper plane, before sitting down to an elegant meal inside the airport’s Hangar – the first such event ever at the airport.
During the Bar Mitzvah, a T-shirt invitation for the Bar Mitzvah boy’s Israel celebration, was handed out to all the guests. TLS-CCP.
Thats pretty wild!! do you think they do weddings??
call me crazy but a 13 yr old taking flying lessons?? doesnt seem right
Considering that this is the first ever bar mitzvah celebration at Monmouth Executive Airport, this is an historic event. Perhaps the Guiness Book of World Records should be contacted.
Mazal Tov!! It’s a very fine family who spend their summer months in Lakewood.
Wishing the Bar Mitzvah boy to follow in his father’s footsteps!
The father is a professional pilot. So relax its not the kid woke up one day and decided to fly….
Mazel Tov and may you have loads of nachas!
I bet the BM boy felt like he was on cloud 9 while at the airport 😉
can we leave the critical comments to ourself and wish a beautiful family a hearty mazel tov on a wonderful milestone and simcha. We are not a cookie cutter community and everyone is free to pursuit anything to their hearts desire

This was the most amazing bar mitzvah! The T shirts, the desserts, the first class toiletry bags, the flying, the music……..it was endless. Everyone felt so important. JAKY , will see you BH in Israel!!!!!!! Cannot wait!!!!!!
Mazel Tov!!!
“Don’t envy your neighbour !” seems like Miriamg should stop with the LH. The event was first class (no pun intended) just like the bm boy and his family. Ps it was for some the first time on an airplane , consider THAT and everything else a milestone . The bar mitzva is one that will not be forgotten.
