VIDEO REPLAY: President To Address Nation About Boston Explosions

VIDEO REPLAY: President Barack Obama will be addressing the Nation this evening about the tragedy in Boston. According to reports, several are dead and dozens are injured following explosions which rocked the Boston Marathon shortly before 3 PM.

Since the explosion, authorities have identified at least two other unexploded devices around the marathon area.

As a result of the tragedy, the FAA has grounded flights in and out of Boston. Cell phone service in the area was also shut to prevent any possible remote explosions.

Though details are still sketchy, authorities believe the explosions are terror-related and a suspect – a Saudi national who also sustained injuries in the explosions – was detained by police at a local hospital.

The President is expected to address the Nation at 6:10 PM.

  1. NOW DO YOU FOLKS SEE WHY OFFICERS RESPOND TO SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES SO CAREFULLY HERE IN LAKEWOOD?
(the only thing that should be done, is fining those who leave items around – because its happening to with to high of a frequency)

  2. It is time to ban bombs and other explosions, especially the assault bombs – those are the worst. We need stricter bomb control. When the government finally bans these bombs, we’ll all be safer.

  3. @Yid 6:41pm

While I usually agree with you politically, this is not the time, nor the place to debate the gun issue.

Two people are, dead. Dozens more are severely injured.

B”mchilas k’vodcha, (with all due respect) today is not the time to discuss guns.

Today is the time to reflect and pray for the memories of the dead and pray to G-d that we will merit soon to see the day when there will be no more pain and no more bloodshed.

  4. Yid, your point is true as it has been throughout all prior posts, but it may be a bit distasteful here. People have died, many others are suffering. This is not the right time to get up on your soap box.

  5. i heard this bomb was made with the use of a cellphone. cellphones cause so many deaths and injuries every year; from auto related cellphone accidents & deaths, to pedestrian related injuries.
    PASS SENSIBLE CELLPHONE LEGISLATION NOW!

  6. I publically apologize if my comment was distasteful. I did not mean it that way at all. I had already commented on other forums about the tragedy, and since TLS didn’t mention anything about this tragedy until later in the day, by that time, I wasn’t commenting anymore about the sad nature of this tragedy.

I do feel though that for those who insist that we need to ban guns to prevent shootings, today is a perfect time to bring home the fact that banning bombs does not stop criminals (or terrorists) and neither will banning guns.

    G-d bless America.

  7. Dear “Fred”,

Tell us, as the events of 9-11 were unfolding, did you ask, “Is this Lakewood news?”

America was attacked – regardless of within which city you reside.

If you don’t get that then perhaps you should return to your game of marbles or Chutes and Ladders or whatever.

  8. Is this Lakewood news yes it is. But why I ask is the only story on this site after the president spoke? Why not a news feed right after it happened?

  9. I was going to comment on this but after YID apologized decided not too. From one resident to another thank you for your # 6 comment.

  10. Yes I’m wondering as well, this a horrifying, heartbreaking tragedy. Why is the only headline on the Lakewood Scoop about the presidential address. Thank you for not posting gruesome, tasteless pictures, but at least an indication in writing about the horror of what they’re calling the biggest terrorist attack on American soil since 9-11?

  11. While we who choose to live in Lakewood do not live in a bubble. In my opinion, the TLC must follow stories like this horrible tragedy.
    Well done
