Senator Singer and Assemblymen Sean Kean and David Rible Announce Funding to Relieve Route 9 Congestion

In continuing efforts to address the congestion along the Route 9 Lakewood area, 30th District legislators Senator Robert W. Singer and Assemblymen Sean Kean and David Rible have announced that there is an allocation for a Route 9 Lakewood congestion relief project study included in the FY2017 capital program.

The lawmakers have been vigilant in working with the Department of Transportation to address the area’s long term transportation needs, and are confident the study would be a giant first step toward alleviating the burden on that area of the District’s traffic community. The preliminary study is scheduled to begin in 2014.

The 30th District is home to Lakewood, which borders Howell, and the region has experienced tremendous growth. Route 9 traffic congestion is one of the demands associated with the area’s development.

Senator Singer stated that he and his colleagues in the Assembly have remained committed to resolving this issue.

“We understand the need to keep the growing population mobile and the study will reinforce the need for these improvements and move the projects forward.” TLS.

  1. How many studies do we need? What happened to the last study, I know they studied and talked about the Study till it became so outdated it was useless.
Nothing will happen with this Study, just more tax money wasted.

  2. We don’t need a study.

    1) Stop the growth
    2) Stop the busing madness

Don’t throw money at something that is only an issue because of poor planning and lack of control.

  3. I agree with #5,if the town would slow down the developement in Lakewood it would be alot better. Too many people for the size of the town. Used to be a nice place to live but not so anymore. We have no treees or green lawns, only cement and kids toys strun all over what was yards at one time.
