Heat Advisory in Effect Until Sunday Night

A heat advisory for Lakewood and Ocean County remains in effect until 8 PM Sunday night, the National Weather Service said. Heat indexes today reached 104 degrees, and are expected to reach 102 on Sunday, the Service said.

For the remainder of the week, temperatures in Lakewood will remain in the 90s.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. [TLS]
