PHOTOS: On Wednesday June 10, just before departing back home after a week in New Jersey, the Rosh Hayeshiva of Yeshivas Mir Yerushlayim made a brief stop in Lakewood to meet with local Askanim, as earlier reported. The Askanim are involved in the fundraising effort of the Chodesh Leshana campaign of the Yeshiva to help the Yungerleit of the Mir for the month of Elul. The meeting was held at the home of Mir talmid and Askan R’ Zalman Shapiro in advance of the Lakewood Tribute Dinner to be held at Neemas Hachaim Hall on August 25.
In a moving presentation, the Rosh Hayeshiva gave the crowd a glimpse of the tremendous Mesiras Nefesh displayed by the Yungeleit of the Mir and their wives, who, today more than ever, require much sacrifice. The Rosh Hayeshiva noted, though, how the Torah of the Mir has thrived under the most trying circumstances and that the current crisis presents an opportunity for people abroad to take a larger share in the learning of the Mir.
After the meeting with Mir askanim, the Rosh Hayeshiva went to the home of R’ Chaim Zelcer of Brookhill to greet many Chassidishe Talmidim and Yungeleit who came to pay tribute to the Torah of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.
