About 1,500 JCP&L Customers Without Power

About 1,500 JCP&L customers are without power this afternoon, the electric company says. The power outage is reportedly due to a pole which caught fire in the area of Central Avenue and New Central Avenue.

JC&L says power is expected to be restored at approximately 7p.m.

  1. Are we living in a Third World Country? This is NJ! We should need a Generator maybe once or twice in our lifetimes. In the aftermath of Sandy many utility workers from out-of-state noted that the infrastructure supplied by JCP&L is the worst they’ve ever come across. This is an issue where we should all stand united & force them to correct once & for all. I personally have had enough of power outages every time there’s a threat of lightning!

  2. the reason for the loss of power was due to the fact that lighting hit a pole and caused a fire. it happened very fast and only reason we know what happened is because it was in front of our house.

  3. If your willing to accept rate hikes you’ll get better service. But you want them to do better for the same money unfortunately they have to make a living too.

  4. Hey ANON, the rate hikes will most likely into the pockets of JCP&L management, for their outstanding work, before it will be used to upgrade the power lines….. just sayin..
