A Lakewood Police Officer was assaulted during an arrest on Friday, TLS has learned. At about 8 p.m. officers on East 4th Street encountered a woman acting suspicious, and approached her.
The officers then determined that the woman needed to be taken to the phsyicatric ward, and placed her in a patrol vehicle.
When the woman, approximately 30 years old, attempted to escape from the vehicle, Officer Jeremy Felder opened the door to investigate. That’s when the irrate woman attacked Officer Felder by punching him in the face. She also tried to fight off other officers, but was quickly subdued and arrested.
Officer Felder suffered a bloody nose and was treated by Lakewood First Aid.
The woman was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, and was then taken to the psyciatric ward.
