Lakewood Woman Duped Out of $3,000 in Lottery Scam

Lakewood Police are investigating after a woman claims she was duped out of $3,000 in a lottery scam, police confirm to TLS.

Police were called on Friday after workers from a nearby shop reported that a victim, a Hispanic woman, had walked into the shop crying.

The victim reportedly told police she was approached by a pair of suspects in a 4th Street parking lot and gave them $3,000 after being convinced she would be sharing the winnings of a million dollar lottery. However, when the men disappeared after taking her money, she quickly realized it was a scam.

Police say CIU was summoned to review video surveillance. [TLS]

  1. Common everyone – not everyone is a critic – even if it’s a good thing.

“She” is the “victim” and is definitely “not at fault”, based on the facts of the story that have been told so far.

So, why not show some concern…
Coming from a foreign country, trying to make things work out. Now, she gets approached and convinced that things will turn around for the better – and then she gets scammed out of the money she has.

No reason to lecture her at this point.
Her crime at the very most was “naiveness”
Our critics quotes at the very least are being completely insensitive.

  2. never carry more than 50$ on me , has nothing to do with putting your money in banks has to do with carrying that amount of money on you .and then also thinking some one is going to share a million with you ~ PEOPLE WAKE UP PLEASE ,no one deserves to be scammed ,however you have to be at least smart enough not to put yourself at risk by thinking you are going to make a quick buck from someone you don’t even know!!!
