PHOTO: Dozens of Lakewood residents have actually made their way to a local car dealership after being baited in by a ‘you’re a winner’ style card which was apparently shipped to thousands of homes throughout town, readers tell TLS.
The scratch and win card says you can either win a 2012 Honda Civic, a trip for 4 to Atlantis, 10K cash or 1,000 on-line shopping spree.
But many feel this falls into the “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” category.
As usual with these type of promos, always do your proper reasearch before running down to catch which what appears to be a ‘once in a lifetime’ deal.

I don’t understand how they can do this legally… There are laws about contests like these.
If it was kupat ha ir doing this, would u still be complaining?
Read the attached link, apparently this type of scamming has been going on at car dealers for a while. Don’t get sucked in.
This is a huge scam and there is always some fine print that says your number on the card, also has to match the number at the dealership, which it almost never does. Why on earth would anyone want to buy a car from someone who plays such shady, sneaky games?
Anyone who gets this should go into the dealership and demand their prize. When they are told “oh sorry, you are not a winner”, let them know you are in the market for a brand new car but will be going ELSEWHERE because if this very sleazy trick. This might teach them a lesson about trying to fool people.
How can you compare at tzedaka organization to these scams!
just wondering … yeah we’re all just wondering about you.
A relative of mine had a bad experience with a lease from a dealership.
Unzere Chevra can probably do a lot better than any dealership.
Like always do your homework and never settle after one quote!
I have it sitting on my table for the last 3 days actually waiting for when I had a chance to go in. Thank you to the Lakewood Scoop for letting me know it was a Bait and Switch. I will never ever patronize this disgusting dealership for making me feel like such a fool. I request a public apology from the a senior member of the dealership. I am truly humiliated.
I know someone who actually won one of these prizes…
this dealer should be alerted that the community will not patronize scammers .
With all due respect – you must be really naive to think you are just getting something for free. When it arrived in the mail I showed it to my wife and asked her to find where is the catch- it’s called the fine print! Next time, read it and you won’t be going down to claim your ‘prize’!
