Suspect Tells LPD He Saw His Picture on Social Media and Attempted to Contact Police

cvsThe man suspected of stealing a credit card and using it for purchases at a local CVS, said he, among others, saw his picture on social media and even attempted to contact police about it.

“‎During the investigation, Mr. Olthaus advised that he saw his photo on social media as well and made an attempt to contact someone from the police department but didn’t follow through,” Dsgt. Greg Staffordsmith says.

But though he wasn’t successful in getting through to police, someone else was.

Ryan Olthaus, of Brick, was arrested and charged with the possession of a stolen credit card and fraudulent use of that card earlier this morning prior to being released.

“23 year old Olthaus used the card several times between March 2nd and March 9th at a local gas station, convenience store and pharmacy,” police said this morning. [TLS]
