A child playing in a development Shabbos afternoon was injured by a hit and run driver, TLS has learned.
The nine-year-old boy, from Presidential Estates, was playing outside around 4:30 PM when he was struck by a vehicle which then fled the area.
Hatzolah and EMS responded, and the child was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with an arm injury.
Police also responded and are investigating.
The suspect vehicle is said to be a green minivan driven by a Hispanic male.
Area surveillance cameras are being reviewed, neighbors say.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 732-363-0200.

What state plates did the van have ?
Just find out who’s goita was being dropped off, it was the driver
Just curious who took this picture today at 4:30 in the afternoon.
If you LOOK you would immediately notice the kids in the background are not dressed for Shabbos, and are on their bikes. Obviously this is a generic picture…..
We should be getting street closures in the neiborhoods that are all Jewish for shabbos. It’s pretty dangerous because kids & parents aren’t expecting any cars
Street closures?! How about never letting your kids play in the street at any time?!
I respectfully disagree.
Maybe parents should better educate their children the dangers of playing in the street. This has nothing to do with Shabbos… even during the week children in many developments feel they own the streets.
If children are used to playing in the streets on Shabbos… many are to young to differentiate and play in the streets during the week as well.
I’m in no way trying to blame the parents or mitigate what this criminal did and he hopefully he will be caught and prosecuted, but we as parents need to make sure our kids do not play in the street.
They should put cones by the entrances to Jewish developments. Maybe people shouldn’t have goytas on Shabbos.
Driver had PA plates
Children must be taught. It’s NEVER safe to play in the street! Road closures etc add some additional safety measure perhaps, though its almost guaranteed cars will still be coming through even with road blocks. Nothing is an adequate substitute for proper parental supervision and teaching our children safety awareness!
Be dan lekaf zechus. Maybe he was floozy from the kidish wine

I agree 100%

I agree again 100%
Parents need to be responsible for their kids and teach them safety rules and be outside when the kids are outside.
Not to say that the driver shouldn’t be caught and locked up.
To all the dissenters
I’m all for parents being responsible & supervising their children. But on shabbos it’s a good idea to have street closures. These cars don’t belong there anyway.
Bottom line if parents walk freely on the street and not on the sidewalk on Shabbos. Why would childern think that there some thing wrong to play on the streets on Shabbos. The problem is with drivers who drive through devlopments in middle of the day as if its the Garden State Parkeway 2:00 in the morning.Vhameven Yovin
Maybe someone has a nurse or a home health aide. Why shouldn’t they be allowed access to their patient on Shabbos? Why must the children play in the streets?
