AUDIO: Caller to Eat a Pita about Superbowl Specials: This is Not What Reb Aaron Had in Mind

eat a pitaEat a Pita was one of many Lakewood eateries offering specials for the Superbowl, but it bothered one resident enough to call up the manager and make her opinion heard.

“I don’t think it’s fair to do it in Lakewood,” the caller stated. “I respect that the town was started by Reb Aaron…It’s not what Reb Aaron had in mind for Lakewood…I know people need Parnassah…but I don’t think it’s fair.”

  1. I don’t think it’s fair to your kids to be calling stores when they need your attention. Putting that aside, this is not the same lkwd as it used to be. So being that that is the case, mine as well give stores Parnassah and make customers happy with store specials. People are going to buy food regardless …

  2. Everyone settle down reb aron wudnt like the house you live in nor the email you have that you wrote this message with so in regards to the reb aron calm down .Now if you would like to bring up the issue of not idolizing goyim and following them that’s a valid point but that doesn’t start by sports it’s clothing styles as well so I think most of us fall into that category so let’s work on ourselves before others…BTW best food in lkwd is eat a pita

  3. I was going to call the store myself but she beat me to it. It’s totally uncalled for to s send out a mass text like that. Superbowl buddies know each other and a private text would be sufficient and gets passed around no need to send a mass text .

  4. I have such respect for that caller. These ads are disgusting bu I guess it didn’t bother me enough to call. Our rov, Rabbi Brody spoke about this issue on shabbos. How low have we fallen. Honestly, chanukkah gifts… and pesach ads convincing customers to buy because “you owe it to yourself…” is also chukas hagoy.

  5. For those of us not watching the game, we should try to increase our learning during the hours of the game. To somewhat make up for the multitudes that will NOT be learning from 6:30-10:00ish. PS – where’s the audio link ? I don’t see it.

  6. I have to give credit to that person for keeping our standards – but I also credit eat a pita, assuming they are the ones who made this audio public (if it was the caller, that’s not so impressive).

  7. Exit Mobil version and you’ll see the link
Is it better to advertise Rosh chodesh adar specials for today?? At least eat a pita said it as is, super bowl specials!

  8. Absurd! Reb Aharon & Reb Nosson would not have wanted any of the food establishments, and probably would have moved the yeshiva to Vineland. But Lakewood is now a different town.

  9. As Lkwd has grown people have to accept that there are all types of people in our town all of them are special and might be on different paths of growth not everyone has to be moshe rabeinu, after 120 hashem will ask were you the best you can be, focus on yourself and your family. its ok to point out to your children and say some people are so into sports we would rather focus on torah. but we are not to judge those watching the game, we need to worry about our olam habbah and creating a kiddush hashem. we all have struggles and will get rewarded based on how we conquer those struggles not based on what the struggles are?? focus on you and your families growth. and btw eat a pita has the best shwarma wraps i need to drive across town for???

  10. I would like to welcome you-sadly-to the new generation of today, where we are living in a state of instant-gratification & a state of self-centeredness etc… where everything is ME ME & ONLY ME & my ways

in todays dor theres nothing wrong with anything….-i mean what wrong with internet, movies, sports etc….-everyone thinks their way of life is the correct way & everyone else is wrong the torah people are too serious & the frei are to non-frum but ME ME my way is perfect (even with internet & sports etc…)

We have a major problem in today’s generation it’s called FACING REALITY. we are living in DENIAL What happens today when tragedy strikes C”V? we block it from our faces and say “what does Hashem want from me? ” I have nothing to do with this tragedy that occurred to us C”V

But the truth is that we really do get the wake up call from Hashem to do teshuva we just can’t admit it to ourselves. So we leave Hashem no choice but to keep on sending us wake up calls.

  11. ATM,

I sit fair that Lakewood grocery stores have such a huge market yet refuse to charge the cheap Brooklyn prices? As long as they are charging hefty prices another store is allowed to enter the market to help struggling families. If a store is lshem shomaim and not turning any profit then you have an argument. The argument would be that they need a large crowd to cover their expenses and strengthen their purchase power. But as long as anyone turns a profit and a heft one too its fair game.

  12. It’s disgusting the hemisha stores in town pushing achilas gassa. I’m a Baal habaas and I think for anyone that’s has children to show their children that this is choshuv is a big mistake . I’m a sports fan but I wouldn’t leave my kids for shabbos and go to the game or let them know I am going to watch it and when they get old enough it’s time to hang up the sports taava

  13. I totally agree with the caller even if lakewood has changed there is no reason to advertise goyisha things in a yidisha. Environment . period and I’m not sure why would one think that parnassa. Is an answer, we all know who sends parnassa we should all be gibenched

  14. We are the best generation. Torah is rocking and a bissul sports does not a goy make(although its better to shtaig). Everyone take a super long drag on the nearest e-cig, or don’t if you prefer to stay healthy. Anyway, I knew all along that Denver would win because of the super awesome yeshiva there and all the great bacharim and Zera Avraham.

  15. I’m a missing something?!
it’s a free country and everyone has a right to raise their kids as they feel is right! enough with blaming everyone else for you failing to raise your kids, and stop saying that if only this would change then I wouldn’t have an issue, etc…
you are responsible to raise your kids in your home and teach them what you think is right or wrong when they go out, and subject close!

  16. She is right and she is wrong it all depends on a person’s situation I don’t feel there is a need to publish this as it’s a personal feeling do we know what rav Aron would want from each of use on a personal level in this new generation of totally new nesyonos?????? We have no right too speak on his behalf it’s a totally new challenge The world we live in. Hazlacha to all on finding your way in this stormy gulus

  17. The superbowl is not just a sports game. I was bowling with my kids and the game came on. From the celebrity singers, cheer team to most of the commercials there are serious problems with watching the game. A party while watching the game is not an appropriate think to advertise in any frum paper.

  18. I am Yeshivish and I am PROUD. This is Lakewood whoever doesnt like the original standards Rav Ahron and the yeshiva set can move to cheaper housing in a another community . Thanks for the courage to speak ourt and please dont apologize for being yeshivish . BE PROUD thats what Lakewood is about DONT let them bully you into accepting everyone for whatever they are on………… Torah rules Lakewood.
