Lakewood police chased down and arrested a man with a loaded gun yesterday, police say.
On October 3rd at approximately 7:30pm, Officer Dennis Dowden responded to a report of some people arguing in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Drive.
Upon arrival, Officer Dowden began speaking with 23 yr old, Claudio Gonzalez of Jackson, when the bottom of his shirt went up exposing the handle of a firearm.
Officer Dowden attempted to grab hold of Gonzalez but he broke free and fled on foot. Dowden gave chase and observed Gonzalez pull out a silver handgun as he ran.
Additional responding Officers joined the pursuit and he was subsequently apprehend by Sgt. Robert Humeny a short distance later.
Recovered at the scene was a loaded Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum.
Claudio Gonzalez was charged with the Weapon Violation, Obstruction of Justice, Hindering and Resisting Arrest by Flight.
He was lodged at the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $115,000 no 10% Bail.
