We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Rabbi Martin (Rav Yaakov Mordechai) Applebaum, a U.S. Army Chaplain who was suddenly Niftar. He was 62.
Rabbi Applebaum Z”L served in the army for approximately 20 years, before retiring as a Colonel. He also served as Rabbi in several Shuls.
Rabbi Applebaum Z”L resided in Lakewood for several years before moving to Florida.
He is survived by his wife Rosalie, and his four children: Yosi (Chicago), Moshe (Florida), David (Lakewood), and Miriam (South Bend, Indiana).
The Levaya took place in New York today.
Shiva will be taking place at 1156 Anthony Court in Lakewood.
Shachris is 8am, and Mincha followed by maariv at 4:20 PM. Shiva From 9 – 12, break from 12 – 1, Shiva from 1 – 5, break from 5 – 6, and Shiva from 6- 9. Friday Shiva will be from 9am to 1pm, and Motei Shabbas Maariv at 5:25pm, and Shiva will be from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Oish. This was a Yid a Tzaddik. The stories he has about the military personnel he inspired over a decorated career as a chaplain are as fascinating as they are diverse. Niftar at 62. 62 !! Mamesh a tragedy. Yehi Zichro Boruch. I believe he had 2 names. Plz post name for mishnayos.
I remember Rabbi Applebaum from the army in Germany. He accepted everyone and anyone no mattter of race creed or color. I’m not jewish and he helped me out a lot. A great guy.
