Hundreds of Lakewood High School students pen letters to Gov. Christie, other top officials ahead of Trenton protest

Gearing up for the planned protest, hundreds of letters are being written by Lakewood High School students, and are being hand-delivered in Trenton.

The students reportedly penned letters to Gov. Christie, as well as to other top brass in Trenton, pleading for them to help the critical situation that Lakewood and its pupil faces in the School District.

As the students prepare to head to Trenton, they are spending time during Language Arts, Art, and History classes learning about the First Amendment, and protests throughout history – such as the Boston Tea Party, the famous march in Alabama led by Martin Luther King, and the famous march on Washington in 1944 by hundreds of Rabbis and leaders to save people from the Holocaust.

The students will be hand-delivering these letters to the officials during the protest on Wednesday.

The teachers and students are 100% with the idea

    Let’s go Piners !!!

  • old and wise says:

This is the greatest thing for the children to be involved. The buses should have signs in them and the kids should either have signs or some other identifying.

  • Lakewood resident says:

I am praying for lakewood twp. I am pleased by what the students are doing..please keep it non violent so you will be taken seriously..

  • NoMoreTaxes says:

Unfortunately the politicians in Trenton do not care about Lakewood children, or this would have been resolved long ago.

Seems the only solution left is to pressure them with bad publicity. Good for the students who are learning first hand about the constitutional right of freedom of assembly.

Maybe the Government will answer & take action.
