A Medical Emergency Outside a Hatzalah Serviced Community? Revolutionary Statewide Hatzalah Program Can Dispatch Members Throughout New Jersey

A resident of a community serviced by Hatzalah is traveling out of their community. They are away from any community serviced by Hatzalah when a medical emergency arises. Hatzalah’s legendary quick response time, professionalism and cultural sensitivity are out of reach, the panic is stark.

What can you do?

The first step is to immediately call 911 for help. Now, however, if an emergency takes place anywhere in the state of New Jersey, there is an additional second step you can take.

Thanks to a new initiative called “Hatzalah Statewide,” you can contact your local hometown Hatzalah, and their dispatcher can activate the Hatzalah Statewide dispatch system. If any Hatzalah Statewide member is in close proximity to the location of your emergency, that member will be dispatched to the scene. Statewide members will stabilize the patient, advise the patient and family and assist local EMS upon their arrival.

Over 120 medical professionals are now members of Hatzalah Statewide. All responders are members of other community Hatzalahs throughout New Jersey and New York. Hatzalah Statewide uses an advanced multimodal communication system, including Nowforce ©, a smartphone based application used by Ichud Hatzalah in Israel and other EMS services around the globe.

Hatzalah Statewide is the result of a collaborative effort of many people from cities throughout New Jersey and New York. Four extraordinary coordinators have been named to oversee operations: Simcha Shain- Paramedic/ALS Coordinator for Lakewood Hatzalah, Mark Spilman- Coordinator for Monsey Hatzalah, Bentzy Friedman- Coordinator for Newark Hatzalah, and Avi Aboud- Coordinator for Jersey Shore Hatzalah.

“Unfortunately, accidents and other medical emergencies happen frequently. Many of us travel or work outside of Hatzalah serviced communities,” says Simcha. “B’ezras Hashem, Hatzalah Statewide will save countless lives.”

Remember, the way to take advantage of this system in the event of an emergency is simple: When out of town, first call 911. When the 911 operator allows you to hang up, call the Hatzalah hotline of your home community. May Hashem protect all of us from harm!

  1. What an amazing idea
It’s so amazing to see all the hatzalha organization of all towns get to gether and save even more lives
I can only manage how much work it was
    Ty to all involved!!!!

  2. one world VAU, we should not need it, but unfortunately we do need it young or old. what can one say. zol gebentscht zein eiere hant,

  3. Just saying that Chaveirim has this system set up for Chaveirim calls out of the area of a regular Chaveirim area. For example If u are In The poconos and need Chaveirim….just call interstate Chaveirim “845-425-help” and they will dispatch the call to almost all Chaveirim members of all Chaveirim organizations and chances are that someone (from the 600 guy’s) would be in your area…or u can just call your local Chaveirim and they will dispatch interstate Chaveirim for u! beautiful thing!

  4. Hopefully this will take off and be a gr8 success just like chavarim is
interstate chavarim is doing a gr8 job
And imH more and more members of diff hatzalha organization’s will join this and many lies can be saved
Tyvm for those involved in making this gr8 thing happen
    Keep up the gr8 work!

  5. Great idea!

Now one more idea perhaps? Why not one centralized Hatzola number? So people from Lakewood who ravel to catskills or Brooklyn may not know the local number of their region. Why not one number across the USA that gets routed (via GPS tracking system which I believe they have) to the local hatzola.

At minimum why not the same number just different area codes. For example 732 hatzola, 845 hatzola, 718 hatzola. So all you have to do is know your area code and then the rest is the same. Why must every hatzola have a totally different number?

  6. Another idea/question. Why is this only statewide, why cant it work nationwide or even worldwide? Lets say someone is on business in China and has an emergency, there is very possibly someone in his neighborhood that is one of the few thousand Hatzola members throughout the world and would be able to advise him or help him out.

  7. @moshe j
Yr so right it would be amazing thing to do
But the prob is, its prob Hard to get permanents for all these places
    Had to run it
Unless they just make a app that anyone can join as long as they put in like a badge number
    Gr8 idea!
