The Center Run 2017 Sunday 6.25.17 – a day for all to remember.

A beautiful expression of support was felt as many of Lakewood residents filled the proximity of town square to wave on the runners at the Start Line of The Center Run 2017.

The excitement along the route and energy at the finish line was palpable as our very own Special Champion runners broke through the finish line!

The crowd embraced them as a shared feeling of love and success was felt by all. The Center Run Dinner & Music Event following the run was an evening to congratulate the runners and celebrate their accomplishments.

Simcha shain, a dear friend of the center, opened the evening representing Chaya Bender and Jenine and Yaakov Shwekey, founders and directors of The Special Children’s Center.

When a special child is born, the entire family is affected. The special child, parents, and siblings all face enormous physical, financial and emotional challenges. The Special Children’s Center is there for them every step of their difficult and challenging journey. From the after school program, Sunday program, summer camp, daycare, center house etc. Legal holidays, snow days, Purim, Chol Hamoed, Erev Yom Tov, Tisha B’av ……the Center NEVER takes a break. The child’s needs are our needs, the families’ pain is our pain, and their triumphs are our triumphs.  Thankfully, these families are not alone. They know we are their extended family…..for life.

The dedication of Yanky & Pessie Samuel was evident in the huge success of the Center Run.

The joyous evening culminated with an unforgettable performance by Yaakov Shwekey. Runners and supporters alike were touched as they watched the Center children join Yaakov shwekey on stage.

What an honor for the entire crowd at The Center Run to welcome home Yitzchok from his ordeal in Russia. The crowd erupted in song, laughter and tears as Kuny Tress and Moshe Tress along with Chaim Gross, founding board member of the Special Children Center, who worked tirelessly to secure his release led him on stage to be greeted by Yaakov Shwekey.

The crowd left The Center that night with a renewed energy and appreciation for what The Center does for our community. Everyone felt how THE CENTER RUNS ON LOVE.
