BREAKING VIDEO & PHOTOS: The scene in Long Branch where 4 were shot and killed; 16-year-old arrested [UPDATED]

A 16-year-old boy is in police custody after four people were found shot to death inside his parent’s Long Branch home, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Long Branch police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at 635 Wall Street in the city at 11:43 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31. 2017.

Long Branch police and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene a minute later where they discovered four deceased victims: the suspect’s father, Steven Kologi, 44; mother Linda Kologi, 42; sister Brittany Kologi, 18; and family acquaintance, Mary Schultz, 70, of Oakhurst Parkway in Ocean Township.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Long Branch Police Department continues, but it appears the 16-year-old boy used a Century Arms semi-automatic rifle to kill his victims. The teenager was taken into custody without incident.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Andrea Tozzi, of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443, or Detective Michael Verdadiero of the Long Branch Police Department at 732-222-1000.

  1. With all due respect, why is it necessary to report this here (Retzicha)? Does this have something to do with Yidden? Eisav… These things happen; they’re not news. Something which is positive or that makes a difference to us, is important. Of course we car about any person dying, but know that statistically a person dies somewhere in the world every second in the clock! (Likewise, a person is born every second! And since there are increasingly more poeple in the world, obviously more are being born than dying!.) TY

  2. Sorry to undermine your respect, far vos, but TLS is a media outlet that provides news for all colors, races, religions and creeds. As tragic as some of these news item are, well, they are still news and our readership likes to be informed of everything – good and unfortunately, not so good.

    Happier New Year

  3. far vos,
This is news. It happened in a neighboring community. When news happens in Lakewood, it makes headlines on other news sites, so why shouldn’t this be shared? How can we expect tolerance and equality if we cannot practice it.?

  4. TLS knows good and well what should be posted or not He’s a super erlicha guy and only posts news that’s fit to print
He is the ONLY media outlet that doesn’t post all the garbage / Loshon hora that all other “Frum ” sites do and every frum person could feel safe looking at
Keep up the great work !!!

  5. But you’re not going to make it because you’re just too small.
Montgomery has been solid all year long with almost 100 innings thrown and a 3.
nd veteran played third base twice last weekend, a hint that he might be called on to play third against lefties for Houston in the coming days.

What can the Washington Capitals possibly try next year.
That all changed when Andy Enfield and his Eagles made history by becoming the first fifteen-seed to ever reach the Sweet Sixteen.
