[Follow our News Alerts for up to the minute news.] The storm has intensified in Lakewood, with over an inch of snow falling per hour.

Multiple trees and power lines have come down around town.

Should you come across a downed power line, phone JCP&L and police immediately.

To report an outage, text OUT to 544487 or call 888-544-4877.

As reported on our alerts, a building on Cross Street is burning – reportedly set on fire by a lightning strike.

UPDATE – NWS: Very heavy snow with rates up to 3 inches per hour and temperatures near freezing this afternoon is resulting in dangerous road
conditions, and this continues to develop eastward to the Jersey Shore. Roads will be snow covered and visibility will be significantly reduced to one quarter of a mile.

The heavy wet snow rapidly sticking to trees and power lines will result in tree limbs breaking or some trees becoming uprooted. This results in additional power outages.

When snowfall rates reach or exceed 1 inch per hour, accumulation on roads makes it difficult for road crews to keep up. Travel is not recommended.
