PHOTOS: Fathers and sons bike 25 miles in Bike 4 Shalom race supporting Shalom Torah Academy

Shalom Torah Academy, the kiruv Jewish Day School supported by Shalom Torah Centers, held their annual fundraiser Bike4Shalom bike race yesterday, starting at Town Square in the heart of Lakewood and finishing at the Shalom campus in Morganville.

Bike4Shalom fathers and sons of all ages bonded as they rode the 25 mile journey through the bucolic back roads of Central Jersey, escorted by police cars, a SAG and medical team. Most of the participants enjoyed a smooth ride on the new Fuji bike they had earned from recruiting their sponsors.

Bike4Shalom participants and sponsors included current parents and students at the school, Shalom alumni, avid and novice bikers, as well as long-time supporters of Shalom Torah from Lakewood and beyond who have seen firsthand the success of its mission in providing a Torah education to those with minimal Torah backgrounds. New participants who arrived at the finish line marveled at the classrooms and hallways filled with Torah learning.

“Shalom Torah Academy would like to thank all of the sponsors and participants of this event and all of the people who made the event run smoothly, including Mayor Ray Coles, the Lakewood Police Dept., Sgt. Frank Work, Herb Celler, Chaveirim of Lakewood, and all the other volunteers involved in the event,” the organization said. “Looking forward to next year’s Bike4Shalom. Stay tuned for more details.”
