PHOTO: Rabbi Avi Schnall meets with Assembly Majority Leader to discuss cuts to Nonpublic schools funds in Governor’s proposed budget

Following a call to action to the community to lobby the leaders in Trenton to reinstate critical Nonpublic school funds that were cut in Governor Murphy’s proposed budget, Rabbi Avi Schnall met with Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald in his Trenton office.

Attending the meeting, was the director of education for the Catholic conference and community activist Aryeh Leib Swerloff, who has a close relationship with Majority leader Greenwald.

In the Governor’s budget, over $3.8 in nursing and technology funds were eliminated and the Aid in lieu amount was reduced from $1,000 to $884.

Rabbi Schnall tells TLS the meeting was very positive, and the Majority leader understood our concerns and recognizes how vital these funds are.

“Majority Leader Greenwald was a primary legislator responsible for the increase in transportation funding last year, and we are hopeful that he will once again champion this cause,” Rabbi Schnall says.
