Amazon Sellers Compliance issue #19 – by Ed Rosenberg

This is a continuation of an ongoing series of Amazon Seller Performance Related information.

  1. There seems to be a wave of suspensions on ASIN variation misuse (very serious), listing generic items as branded and fair pricing policy. If you receive a notification, please make sure you understand and fix the issue, even if they are not asking for a POA. Do not assume if its “quiet for a while” the issue is no longer an issue as eventually, you will get in trouble.
  1. Many sellers are getting notifications where Amazon is asking to review your listing and then allows you to self-relist. Please read the notifications carefully. This is a warning that there is “trouble brewing” with your listing and you need to fix it or nix it. If you feel it’s a fluke and the listing and item are ok, you can self-relist.
  1. “We are writing to let you know that we are conducting a review of the brand listed at the end of this email. We are taking this action because we want to ensure the authenticity of the products sold against this brand. To complete our review of this brand, please directly reply to this email and send the following information to

XXXXXXXX within seven days of receiving this notification. Failure to do so will result in your offer being removed.

Please know that this review does not necessarily reflect poorly on you or your seller account. We are conducting a review of this brand as part of our commitment to ensuring that customers can always buy with confidence on Amazon.”

This is for Adidas, Sony, and other brands. Amazon is not mentioning ASINS, and I’m not sure what’s behind this. It could be you received complaints against those brands, and now they require approval.

  1. Fair Pricing Policy is explained here (https://tinyurl.com/yc7deuvx) On the recent suspension wave, it was generally for charging more per unit when a multi-pack was created in a variation. If you create a separate listing for each multi-pack, you can still violate this policy by charging more per unit when they are in a bundle.
  1. This product has been identified as a product containing boric acid that makes pesticide claims but is unregistered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Products containing boric acid that make pesticide claims and are unregistered with the EPA are prohibited from sale and listing on Amazon”. Amazon has been enforcing Restricted Products. If you get a warning, please delete the listing.
  1. There was another massive product review sweep. 1000s of more reviews have been removed. I do not know for sure, but I think many reviews will be put back once the fake ones are removed.
  1. Some recent Seller Performance notifications are not actually going into the notification section. Please make sure to monitor the main email account for important messages. The issue of the subject having the wrong message (i.e., “Your privileges have been removed” or “Notice inquiry”) and then the body saying something else has gotten worse. Only the message in the body is what counts. “It’s simply a technical issue.
  1. Sellers cannot relist items that were blocked for any reason unless reinstated. If a RO filed a complaint and you feel it’s not legitimate, you need to obtain retraction or reinstatement from the notice team. Relisting and relisting a blocked listing is a very serious offense and has gotten sellers suspended.
  1. Hello, We reviewed your account and the information you provided, and we have decided that you may sell on Amazon.com again. Also, it has been determined that the hydrocortisone product(s) in question is permitted. Please note that it may take 1-2 business days for the product(s) to be available on the website. In our efforts to protect our community, we sometimes err on the side of caution.”. For restricted products, if you are sure it should not be restricted, you can have it overturned with a case and good evidence. Do not relist because “you’re sure its OK.”
  1. Hello from Amazon, We are writing to let you know that the following detail pages have been removed from our catalog: This product has been identified as containing shark cartilage or other shark ingredients. Amazon policy prohibits the listing or sale on Amazon of products that contain shark cartilage or other shark ingredients.” NEW
  1. If you posted an item in an FB group a long time ago requesting reviews in exchange for a free item or refund, best to remove them as if Amazon finds it, they could suspend you even though it was posted a while ago. They do not differentiate if it’s a 3P provider that is doing this for you or someone on your staff.

  1. I’m sure by now, folks realize that Amazon is not a sole solution for earning a living.

Even when you follow all policies , they still control you listings, buy boxes and could have devistating effects on your livelihood.

Amazon doesn’t care. In face they are quietly becoming each and everyone’s competitor in every catagoy they see volume in.
