PHOTOS: His Royal Highness Prince Edward visits Lakewood

British Prince, His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, visited Lakewood this afternoon.

The Prince is in the United States for a tour for his father, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award encourages young people between the ages of 14 – 24 to challenge themselves through a personalized program of skill development, physical activity, voluntary service and adventure. By pushing young people outside of their comfort zones, they can discover the power of their potential and find their own purpose, passion and place in the world.

HRH is visiting the United States as part of a year-long program of activities to celebrate, raise awareness and drive support for the inspirational activity of young people and volunteers around the world, who make up the 1.3 million participants and 200,000 volunteers in more than 130 countries and territories involved in the Award.

During the visit, His Royal Highness will compete a series of Real Tennis (also known as Court Tennis in the United States) matches during his visit. His Royal Highness developed a passion for the sport more than 30 years ago, when completing his own Gold Award.

New Jersey State Police, Lakewood’s SWAT team and Sheriff’s Department were among the security detail surrounding the visit.

    • It was HRH’s zeidah, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth’s father, who saved the Jewish children. His elter zeidah, HM King George V, passed away in 1936. George V was briefly succeeded by King Edward VIII who abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee. George VI acceded to the throne in 1936 and reigned until his death in 1952.

Unfortunately, due to the influx of refugees and anti-Semites like Jeremy Corbyn, British Jews have been suffering from an increase of anti-Semitism in the past few years.

  2. While I have no qualms with the Prince, once we’re on the topic of his ancestors. Let’s not forget that his ancestors blocked Jewish refugees pre, post and during the Holocaust from entering Israel. Additionally, the British government treated the Jews very poorly while they were in control of Israel.

    • The British had to protect the Empire, the Middle East and the route to Far East.

It’s ironic that since the US took over the job of the high seas, the British Army now seemingly more important than the navy.

They have been the most important ally all our wars except they did not join in the Viet Nam War. The dominions though joined the US in SEATO and sent troops.

  3. He came all the way to Lakewood to play tennis? I didn’t know Georgian Court College was world famous. What about BMG? I thought it was more renowned.
