What Hurricane Florence means for New Jersey

For those in NJ/NY hearing about the major Hurricane Florence and wondering, “can I put my sukkah up? Will it affect us?”

The short answer is no it will not affect us.

Interestingly enough, Florence will have major major impacts on the Carolina coasts and stall for a while there, but even 50 miles inland will most likely not see hurricane force winds. It will not move much off the coast.

Another interesting point, Hurricane Florence will hit North Carolina and then head south. Most storms coming from the south heading north will continue north, but in this scenario, it will turn back south and therefore not affect New Jersey.

Major Catastrophic flooding and damage expected in the Carolinas.

  1. Truthfully, there’s no way to kow exactly what path the storm will take. How many times have we heard, “oops – the storm has JUST changed direction” ? How many times were we forecast for 18 inches of snow and got a dusting & vice – versa ??
